“Playstation to Release VR 2, No Official Release Date”

PlayStation submitted a new patent for the VR 2. Dutch Tech blog, Let’s Go Digital, discovered the patent. They are the first ones to report about the design of the PlayStation 5.

Rumors regarding the PlayStation VR 2 were already flying around about a year ago.

Sony is striving to improve technicality, functionality and provide a seamless VR experience.

The VR2 possibly includes:

  • the same spaceship-like console to support the design of the PS5
  • Two built-in front cameras: “transparent mode” that will use the front-facing cameras to allow the wearer to see their surroundings just like in augmented reality headsets. This allows for the exciting possibility of being able to use the PlayStation in an augmented reality mode, something that has never been seen in the history of the franchise.
  • a camera at the back
  • a camera in the Move controller
  • LEDs for improved motion tracking detection
  • a unique eye display for each eye for unobstructed 3D viewing
  • a built-in microphone
  • talks of wireless Bluetooth connectivity from device to console
  • Sources claimed that PlayStation was going to investigate the possibility of g cameras built into the Move controller

These advances could pave the way for other consoles to get on board with combining gaming with augmented reality potentially.

This could change the way games are perceived, played, and experienced.

Speculators say Sony is developing and testing virtual reality gloves.
